PROPAGANDA 101
Something your local TV station is unlikely to pick up: a North Korean film on Western propaganda. You'll want to watch this important insight into the architecture of level 1 mind control. Plenty of on-point phrasing like “narcissistic parasite", “fortune 500-wars", “meaningless, distorted reality" and “freak-show programming" here.
Of course, the NKs should know about propaganda. If you've been doing your homework here on B&C, you should too.

MUST-WATCH: THE KILLING OF AMERICA
Why are Americans killing each other in huge numbers? This documentary examines the deep causes.

NEW HIGH-LEVEL PERSPECTIVES ON DRUG LAWS
At the upcoming Summit of the Americas, heads of Central American states will raise an important debate on the viability of the current war on (some) drugs. However, according to this Guardian article, the Obama administration, also in attendance at the summit, “does not want to be seen as softening its support for prohibition".

LIES, LIES, LIES...
Keep your eyes open for the upcoming BBC2 interview with the man who claims to have fabricated much of the information leading to the invasion of Iraq. This might be surprising to some, but to regular readers of Bread & Circuses it shouldn't. Is he coming clean, or is he helping other appear less culpable? Caveat lector.

A PERSPECTIVE ON THE MYSTERIOUS $15 T
Regular readers will be familiar with some of my own speculation into U.S. money-laundering (and counterfeiting of its own currency). Of interest, my own theorizing was based on a series of logical deductions that implied that some massive money-laundering operation (of counterfeit currency) must be taking place in the dying U.S. economy. And now we have a detailed paper-trail on the largest (known) money-laundering operation in history.

OUCH!
A very revealing resignation letter from Greg Smith, formerly of Goldman Sachs.
TODAY is my last day at Goldman Sachs.
After almost 12 years at the firm — first as a summer intern while at Stanford, then in New York for 10 years, and now in London — I believe I have worked here long enough to understand the trajectory of its culture, its people and its identity. And I can honestly say that the environment now is as toxic and destructive as I have ever seen it.

STEALTH SURFING
“Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the western world are required by law to track nearly everything you do online. While the US government has been trying to hide their electronic wiretapping program as a state secret, the EU made theirs public by passing theData Retention Directive of 2006. Article 5, under “Categories of data to be retained”, lists the gory details of what is tracked. This is required for home phones, mobile phones, Internet telephony and e-mail. And depending on the country, this information will be kept for 6 months to 2 YEARS."

SURVEILLING EVERYTHING
What will happen when power-crazed governments across the globe have the technological capacity to record and analyze literally everything for immediate and future reference? Nothing good, of course.

THE AFGHANISTAN DECEPTION
“Our current military leadership is so distorting the information it releases that the deterioration of the situation and the failing nature of our efforts is shielded from the American public (and Congress), and replaced instead with explicit statements that all is going according to plan. Not only is this type of behavior not representative of American values, it also works against our own interests.
(...)
For most people, it is quite simply irreconcilable with what we think we know, to seriously consider any senior military leader would intentionally tell the American public something that was untrue. In all probability our leaders do not consider what they are saying to be "lying" per se, but an effective part of "Information Operations (IO)" designed to protect the support of the American people for our troops in contact."
- Lt. Col. Daniel Davis
Here's a picture of the Afghan catastrophe you don't see too often. Why? Perhaps someone is making a concerted effort at not getting the truth to you. Well, at least some people are trying.

POLICE OFFICER SPEAKS OUT AGAINST THE WAR ON (SOME) DRUGS
“As an active duty veteran police officer, I would love to publicly join Law Enforcement Against Prohibition and freely speak out against the drug war. However, I am scared, yes scared, to join LEAP publicly. Although many active duty law enforcers are already speaking out publicly with LEAP and maintaining their careers (more on them later), I believe I would be punished by my department for my advocacy or perhaps even fired."

MEDIA MANIPULATION
“As the US and Iranian governments escalate tensions in the already volatile Straits of Hormuz, and China and Russia begin openly questioning Washington's interference in their internal politics, the world remains on a knife-edge of military tension. Far from being a dispassionate observer of these developments, however, the media has in fact been central to increasing those tensions and preparing the public to expect a military confrontation. "

WAR FOR TOTAL CONTROL
“Like a sharp two-edged sword, the Internet and the very rapidly evolving technologies surrounding it, are poised to either usher in a new era of intellectual, cultural and spiritual enlightenment, material well-being and true cooperation amongst nations bent on resolving common global problems; or we may be about to fall into a black abyss of absolute totalitarian control; intellectual, physical and spiritual violence; and mass slavery on an unprecedented scale."

COVERT ELECTRONIC WARFARE
Watch this. Pay special attention to the comments at 31:50 minutes on the profiling of the victims in video 1.
A lot of signs are pointing toward a military/medical/scientific and political scandal of far-reaching proportions. Bread & Circuses will be covering this subject in more detail in the coming future.

THE CRISIS IN THE MEDIA
As the financial crisis began to roll in 2006 – and in the years that followed – it became painfully clear that the mainstream media journalists had a very tough time getting a firm grip on the full story. Somehow the deep, dark aspects of criminality and ingrained systemic corruption seemed to elude politicians and financial analysts alike.
At Al-Jazeera, commentator Danny Schechter has a brief article on the subject of media negligence, which is well worth reading.
